Worst air pollution Timişoara, today and tomorrow
Today (10 August): Air quality in Timişoara is poor. AQI and NO2 are poor; O3 is medium; PM2.5, PM10, SO2, CO, HCHO, and PM1 are good. Pollution peaks around 3:00 AM (NO2: 68.3/100).
Tomorrow (11 August 2026): Air quality in Timişoara is poor. PM2.5 increases to medium; PM1 increases to medium; all other pollutants stay as today. Pollution peaks around 1:00 AM (NO2: 60.2/100). Airmine updates local air quality forecasts four times daily.

Timișoara's air quality faces winter challenges from residential heating and vehicle traffic on the surrounding expressway network generating elevated PM2.5 and NO₂ alongside seasonal temperature inversions in the flat Banat plain. The Danube basin's generally flat Pannonian terrain provides reasonable wind dispersal on most days, while the western Romania position closer to Atlantic airflow influence gives Timișoara somewhat better baseline conditions than the more eastern Romanian cities during summer periods.

Is air quality bad in Timişoara right now?
On 10 August 2026, overall air quality in Timişoara is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 68.3/100. Pollution peaks around 3:00 AM (NO2: 68.3/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Timişoara?
On 11 August 2026, air quality conditions in Timişoara will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at poor at 60.2/100. Pollution peaks around 1:00 AM (NO2: 60.2/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Timişoara?
People in Timişoara tend to notice reduced air quality when local tree and grass allergens peaks, or because of residential heating and vehicle traffic on the local expressway network; cooler, breezier weather later in the year tends to bring things back down.
Are air quality levels in Timişoara based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
