Buzău's air quality reflects the Buzău river valley at the Carpathian foothills edge in southeastern Romania, with vehicle traffic on the A7 motorway and surrounding manufacturing and oil infrastructure contributing local sources. Winter residential wood and coal burning generates elevated PM2.5, while the Subcarpathian ridgelines create partial topographic enclosure and cold anticyclonic conditions concentrate heating emissions under winter inversions throughout the year.
