Doha's air quality reflects the flat Qatar Peninsula's Arabian Gulf coastal position, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the LNG export, construction, and government corridor generating elevated PM2.5 and NOₓ. Windblown Arabian Desert and Empty Quarter dust generates elevated PM10 during shamal wind events, while the Arabian Gulf's sea breezes provide coastal ventilation and the extraordinary Qatar World Cup construction activity has added significant temporal PM10 elevation throughout the year.
