Managua's air quality reflects the flat Nicaraguan Pacific coastal plain's Lake Managua basin at 50 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the manufacturing, construction, and agricultural corridor generating elevated PM2.5. The flat basin's limited topographic dispersal under calm conditions and the tropical dry season concentration create seasonal challenges, while the Pacific maritime influence provides ventilation on most wind days and Managua generally maintains moderate Central American capital city readings throughout most of the year.
