Sale's air quality reflects the flat Moroccan Atlantic coastal position on the Bou Regreg River adjacent to Rabat, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the manufacturing, vehicle density, and informal industrial corridor generating elevated PM2.5. Consistent Atlantic westerlies provide maritime ventilation, while windblown Saharan dust during sirocco events elevates PM10 and Salé generally maintains moderate North African Atlantic coastal metropolitan readings similar to the adjacent Rabat corridor throughout most of the year.
