Zumpango's air quality reflects Mexico City's northern metropolitan corridor in the Valley of Mexico at 2,282 metres adjacent to the new Felipe Ángeles International Airport, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the airport's aviation operations and industrial corridor contributing elevated NOₓ and PM2.5. The Valley of Mexico's topographic trapping compounds all emissions under inversions, while the new airport represents the most distinctive emerging local emission source and Zumpango generally maintains moderate to elevated Mexico City northern corridor readings throughout most of the year.
