San Martin Texmelucan de Labastida's air quality reflects the flat Puebla-Tlaxcala plateau at 2,270 metres adjacent to the Texmelucan PEMEX petrochemical complex, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the petrochemical industrial operations and agricultural corridor contributing elevated industrial and vehicle emissions. The plateau's topographic enclosure creates concentration under inversions, while the PEMEX petrochemical complex's distinctive industrial emissions represent the most locally unique air quality source and the elevated altitude worsens ozone formation throughout most of the year.

As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
