Pesquería's air quality reflects the greater Monterrey metropolitan area's eastern corridor in the Sierra Madre Oriental basin adjacent to the new Kia Motors and BMW plants, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the automotive manufacturing and industrial park character contributing elevated industrial emissions. The extraordinary mountain enclosure creates severe winter inversions, while the Monterrey metropolitan industrial background and the new automotive manufacturing operations maintain moderate to elevated northeastern Mexican mountain basin readings throughout most of the year.
