Paraíso's air quality reflects the flat Tabasco tropical coastal plain's PEMEX offshore oil support position on the Gulf of Mexico, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the extraordinary oil terminal, logistics, and fishing corridor contributing elevated industrial and maritime emissions. Gulf of Mexico trade winds and the tropical climate's frequent convective rain provide ventilation, while the PEMEX oil terminal's operations represent Paraíso's most distinctive local air quality contribution throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Paraíso right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Paraíso is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 77.6/100. Pollution peaks around 7:00 AM (PM10: 77.6/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Paraíso?

On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Paraíso will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at poor at 67.6/100. Pollution peaks around 4:00 AM (PM10: 67.6/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Paraíso?

Pollution in Paraíso typically rises when road traffic, petrochemical and refining operations, along with shipbuilding and port operations combine, especially once dry spells bring strong winds. Strong seasonal winds can lift dust from the surrounding dry terrain and push particulate levels sharply higher. Onshore breezes usually help clear the air, but pollution can build up when winds are light.

Are air quality levels in Paraíso based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
