García's air quality reflects the greater Monterrey metropolitan area's western suburban corridor in the Sierra Madre Oriental foothills, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the rapidly expanding residential and light industrial character contributing local sources. The Sierra Madre Oriental's dramatic mountain enclosure creates severe winter inversions, while the Monterrey metropolitan industrial background maintains moderate to elevated northeastern Mexican mountain basin western corridor readings throughout most of the year.

When is air pollution at its worst in García?
In García, vehicle traffic is the main local source, with conditions worsening when temperature inversions set in over the valley. Topographic enclosure in the valley lets pollution accumulate rather than clear out. Dust carried on these winds adds substantially to particulate levels.
Are air quality levels in García based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
