Toki's air quality reflects the Gifu Prefecture Toki River valley position — Toki being the gateway to Tajimi's ceramics corridor — with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the Mino ware ceramics, manufacturing, and agricultural corridor contributing distinctive kiln dust PM10 alongside primary vehicle sources. The surrounding valley hills create topographic variation, while summer photochemical ozone from the Chukyo corridor and the ceramics operations' distinctive kiln emissions represent the most locally unique air quality contributions throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Toki right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Toki is fair. PM1 is the main pollutant at 24.4/100. Pollution peaks around 12:00 PM (O3: 53.7/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Toki?

On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Toki will be worse than today, with AQI forecast at poor at 78.9/100. Pollution peaks around 4:00 PM (O3: 78.9/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Toki?

Air quality in Toki tends to be worse when traffic emissions, heavy industry such as steel, cement, or petrochemical processing, as well as manufacturing and food processing build up and windblown dust events occur. Strong seasonal winds can lift dust from the surrounding dry terrain and push particulate levels sharply higher. Heat and sunlight combine with emissions to form ozone at ground level.

Are air quality levels in Toki based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
