Tanashichō in Tokyo reflects the northwestern Tokyo metropolitan residential and commercial corridor in Nishi-Tokyo city, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the dense residential and commercial character contributing elevated NOₓ. The flat Kanto Plain allows reasonable dispersal, while the broader Tokyo metropolitan regional emissions elevate background and summer photochemical ozone is the primary warm-season concern and the area generally maintains moderate Tokyo northwestern suburban readings throughout most of the year.

Are air quality levels in Tanashichō based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere.
