Tamba's air quality reflects the Hyogo Prefecture Tamba highland's Kako River valley position at 330 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the Tamba ware ceramics, livestock, and agricultural corridor contributing distinctive kiln dust alongside primary vehicle sources. The surrounding Tamba Mountains create topographic variation, while Osaka Bay breezes provide limited ventilation and the ceramic kiln operations represent Tamba's most culturally unique local air quality characteristic throughout most of the year.

Are air quality levels in Tamba based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
