Kōnosu's air quality reflects the flat Saitama Arakawa River plain position north of Tokyo, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the hina doll manufacturing — Kōnosu being Japan's doll capital — food processing, and residential character contributing local sources. The flat Kanto Plain allows reasonable dispersal, while summer photochemical ozone from the broader Kanto corridor is the primary warm-season concern and Konosu generally maintains moderate Tokyo northern Saitama suburban readings throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Kōnosu right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Kōnosu is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 72.9/100. Pollution peaks around 1:00 PM (O3: 72.9/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Kōnosu?

When is air pollution at its worst in Kōnosu?

Air quality in Kōnosu tends to be worse when traffic on the surrounding roads, heavy industry such as steel, cement, or petrochemical processing, together with light manufacturing build up and summer heat and strong sunlight build up. Photochemical reactions in the heat push ozone levels higher. Readings are generally lower during the cooler, cloudier months.

Are air quality levels in Kōnosu based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
