Kiyosu's air quality reflects the Aichi Prefecture Kiso River plain position adjacent to Nagoya — Kiyosu being historically famous as the site of Oda Nobunaga's castle — with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the automotive parts, manufacturing, and residential corridor contributing local sources. The flat Nobi Plain allows reasonable dispersal, while summer photochemical ozone from the vast Chukyo metropolitan corridor is the primary warm-season concern and Kiyosu generally maintains moderate Nagoya metropolitan northern corridor readings throughout most of the year.
