Fussa's air quality reflects the western Tokyo metropolitan Tama River valley position adjacent to Yokota Air Base, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the US Air Force Yokota aviation operations and manufacturing character contributing elevated NOₓ alongside primary vehicle sources. The flat Kanto Plain allows reasonable dispersal, while the military aviation operations represent the most distinctive local emission source and summer photochemical ozone from the Kanto corridor is the primary warm-season concern.
