Ebetsu's air quality reflects the Hokkaido central Ishikari River plain position adjacent to Sapporo, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the food processing, dairy, and residential character contributing local sources. The flat Ishikari Plain allows reasonable dispersal, while the broader Sapporo metropolitan regional background and the clean Hokkaido boreal setting generally maintain Ebetsu at moderate to good conditions for a major Hokkaido suburban city throughout most of the year.
