Chichibu's air quality reflects the Saitama Prefecture Arakawa River valley's partial enclosure between the Chichibu and Kanto mountain ranges at 280 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the cement manufacturing, tourism, and agricultural corridor contributing elevated mineral dust PM10 alongside primary vehicle sources. The surrounding mountain ranges create topographic enclosure, while the cement operations' distinctive limestone dust represents Chichibu's most locally notable industrial air quality contribution throughout most of the year.
