Today (28 June): Air quality in Baghdad is poor. AQI and O3 are poor; SO2, HCHO, and PM1 are fair; PM2.5, PM10, and NO2 are medium; CO is good. Pollution peaks around 12:00 PM (O3: 63.4/100).
Tomorrow (29 June 2026): Air quality in Baghdad is poor. NO2 increases to fair; SO2 decreases to good; HCHO decreases to good; PM1 decreases to good; all other pollutants stay as today. Pollution peaks around 2:00 PM (O3: 68.7/100). Airmine updates local air quality forecasts four times daily.

Baghdad's air quality reflects the flat Mesopotamian alluvial plain at the Tigris River confluence at 34 metres, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the extraordinary vehicle density, oil refinery operations, and construction generating elevated PM2.5 and SO₂. The hot dry northwest Shamal winds periodically deliver intense dust storms from the Syrian Desert, while vehicle density, waste burning, and oil infrastructure fires generate persistent elevated readings and Baghdad maintains among the Middle East's more severely challenged major metropolitan air quality environments throughout the year.
