Bangalore's air quality reflects the Deccan Plateau's elevated basin position at 920 metres surrounded by the Nandi and Bannerghatta ranges, with vehicle traffic on the Outer Ring Road and the surrounding technology campus, construction, and manufacturing corridor contributing local sources. The elevated plateau position aids background dispersal on most days, while vehicle density has grown dramatically alongside the technology boom and construction dust from rapid urban expansion has become an increasingly significant PM10 source throughout the year.
