Beauvais' air quality reflects the flat Oise valley in the Picardie agricultural plain, with vehicle traffic on the A16 motorway and surrounding agri-food processing and logistics industry contributing local sources. Atlantic westerlies from the English Channel generally provide reliable ventilation across the flat northern French plain, while agricultural ammonia from surrounding Picardie intensive farming contributes secondary particulate formation and the flat terrain prevents significant topographic pollution trapping throughout the year.
