Zhuji's air quality reflects the flat Zhejiang northern Puyang River valley position, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the socks and hosiery manufacturing — Zhuji being the world's sock capital — and gem trading corridor contributing distinctive textile industrial emissions. East China Sea breezes provide limited maritime ventilation, while winter anticyclonic inversions concentrate industrial and heating emissions and the hosiery industry's distinctive textile dust and fibre emissions represent Zhuji's most locally unique air quality signature throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Zhuji right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Zhuji is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 73.5/100. Pollution peaks around 3:00 PM (O3: 73.5/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Zhuji?

On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Zhuji will be worse than today, with AQI forecast at very poor at 85.4/100. Pollution peaks around 4:00 PM (O3: 85.4/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Zhuji?

The biggest local contributors to pollution in Zhuji are traffic emissions along with manufacturing activity, particularly once temperature inversions set in over the valley. Topographic enclosure in the valley lets pollution accumulate rather than clear out. Strong seasonal winds can lift dust from the surrounding dry terrain and push particulate levels sharply higher.

Are air quality levels in Zhuji based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
