Xingtai's air quality reflects the North China Plain's flat Hebei piedmont at the Taihang Mountain base, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the iron and steel, coal, and chemical corridor generating elevated industrial PM2.5. The Taihang Mountains to the west create topographic enclosure, while winter anticyclonic inversions and the heavy industrial corridor maintain Xingtai among North China's more persistently challenged Hebei industrial metropolitan environments throughout the winter months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Xingtai right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Xingtai is very poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 97.6/100. Pollution peaks around 3:00 PM (O3: 97.6/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Xingtai?

On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Xingtai will be better than today, with AQI forecast at poor at 66.3/100. Pollution peaks around 5:00 PM (O3: 66.3/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Xingtai?

In Xingtai, traffic emissions together with steel, cement, and chemical production are the main local sources, with conditions worsening when windblown dust events occur. Strong seasonal winds can lift dust from the surrounding dry terrain and push particulate levels sharply higher. Residential heating through the colder months is a major seasonal source of particulates.

Are air quality levels in Xingtai based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
