Xiaoxita's air quality reflects the Hubei Yangtze River Yichang metropolitan corridor adjacent to the Three Gorges Dam, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the hydropower, chemical, and manufacturing corridor contributing local sources. The Yangtze gorge corridor provides limited ventilation, while the Three Gorges reservoir's humidity and the surrounding Wushan Mountains' topographic enclosure create distinctive local conditions and the area generally maintains moderate Hubei western Yangtze corridor readings throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Xiaoxita right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Xiaoxita is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 68.5/100. Pollution peaks around 1:00 PM (O3: 68.5/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Xiaoxita?

When is air pollution at its worst in Xiaoxita?

Air quality in Xiaoxita tends to be worse when traffic on the surrounding roads, heavy industry such as steel, cement, or petrochemical processing, and manufacturing activity build up and winds are light and dispersion is poor. Local weather patterns add further variation on top of these sources. Background emissions and local weather both play a role in day-to-day changes.

Are air quality levels in Xiaoxita based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
