Pinghu's air quality reflects the flat Zhejiang northern Yangtze delta position adjacent to Shanghai's southwestern corridor, with vehicle traffic and the manufacturing, chemical fibre, and logistics corridor contributing elevated industrial PM2.5. East China Sea breezes provide limited maritime ventilation, while winter anticyclonic inversions concentrate industrial and heating emissions and Pinghu generally maintains moderate to elevated Yangtze Delta Zhejiang corridor readings throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is air quality bad in Pinghu right now?
On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Pinghu is very poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 100/100. Pollution peaks around 12:00 PM (O3: 100/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Pinghu?
On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Pinghu will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at very poor at 100/100. Pollution peaks around 12:00 PM (O3: 100/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Pinghu?
In Pinghu, road traffic, heavy industrial and chemical processing, together with manufacturing activity are the main local sources, with conditions worsening when dry spells bring strong winds. Dust carried on these winds adds substantially to particulate levels. Onshore breezes usually help clear the air, but pollution can build up when winds are light.
Are air quality levels in Pinghu based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
