Jiaxing's air quality reflects the flat Zhejiang northern Yangtze delta position adjacent to both Hangzhou and Shanghai, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the chemical fibre, textile, and manufacturing corridor contributing elevated industrial PM2.5. East China Sea breezes provide limited maritime ventilation, while winter anticyclonic inversions concentrate industrial and heating emissions and Jiaxing generally maintains moderate to elevated Yangtze Delta Zhejiang corridor readings throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is air quality bad in Jiaxing right now?
On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Jiaxing is very poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 89.7/100. Pollution peaks around 12:00 PM (O3: 89.7/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Jiaxing?
On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Jiaxing will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at very poor at 100/100. Pollution peaks around 2:00 PM (O3: 100/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Jiaxing?
Pollution in Jiaxing typically rises when road traffic, petrochemical and refining operations, along with manufacturing and food processing combine, especially once windblown dust events occur. Dust carried on these winds adds substantially to particulate levels. Sea breezes typically keep conditions in check, except during still weather.
Are air quality levels in Jiaxing based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
