Jiangyin's air quality reflects the flat Jiangsu Yangtze River southern bank position adjacent to the Jiangyin Bridge, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the steel, chemical, and textile corridor contributing elevated industrial PM2.5. The Yangtze River provides limited waterway ventilation, while winter anticyclonic inversions concentrate industrial and heating emissions and Jiangyin generally maintains moderate to elevated Jiangsu Yangtze industrial corridor readings throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is air quality bad in Jiangyin right now?
On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Jiangyin is poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 74.5/100. Pollution peaks around 4:00 AM (NO2: 74.5/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Jiangyin?
On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Jiangyin will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at poor at 74.1/100. Pollution peaks around 2:00 PM (O3: 74.1/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Jiangyin?
Pollution in Jiangyin typically rises when vehicle traffic, heavy industrial and chemical processing, as well as textile and manufacturing operations combine, especially once dry spells bring strong winds. Strong seasonal winds can lift dust from the surrounding dry terrain and push particulate levels sharply higher. Coal and wood used for winter heating add substantially to particulate levels.
Are air quality levels in Jiangyin based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
