Worst air pollution Haicheng, today and tomorrow

Today (16 July): Air quality in Haicheng is very poor. AQI and NO2 are very poor; PM2.5 is fair; O3, SO2, and PM1 are medium; PM10, CO, and HCHO are good. Pollution peaks around 9:00 PM (NO2: 85.2/100).
Tomorrow (17 July 2026): Air quality in Haicheng is poor. AQI improves to poor; NO2 decreases to poor; O3 increases to poor; PM1 increases to fair; all other pollutants stay as today. Pollution peaks around 8:00 PM (NO2: 69.3/100). Airmine updates local air quality forecasts four times daily.

Haicheng's air quality reflects the Liaoning Haicheng River valley's industrial position adjacent to Anshan, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the steel, magnesia, and manufacturing corridor generating elevated industrial PM2.5. The valley's topographic variation creates limited concentration under inversions, while the proximity to Anshan's steel complex creates a shared regional industrial background and winter coal heating maintains moderate to elevated Liaoning industrial southern corridor readings throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air quality bad in Haicheng right now?

On 16 July 2026, overall air quality in Haicheng is very poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 85.2/100. Pollution peaks around 9:00 PM (NO2: 85.2/100).

Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Haicheng?

On 17 July 2026, air quality conditions in Haicheng will be better than today, with AQI forecast at poor at 69.3/100. Pollution peaks around 8:00 PM (NO2: 69.3/100).

When is air pollution at its worst in Haicheng?

Haicheng usually sees its poorest air quality when traffic emissions, heavy industrial and chemical processing, together with manufacturing and food processing coincide with periods when temperature inversions set in over the valley. The bowl-like terrain here limits how quickly pollutants can escape. These wind events can carry dust in from the surrounding arid landscape.

Are air quality levels in Haicheng based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
