Lo Barnechea's air quality reflects the Santiago metropolitan area's northeastern precordillera corridor at 1,000 metres adjacent to the Andes ski resorts, with vehicle traffic on surrounding roads and the affluent residential and ski resort character contributing local sources under the Santiago basin's persistent temperature inversions. The elevated Andean foothills position provides marginally better dispersal than the flat valley floor, while the enclosed Central Valley's topographic trapping still influences the corridor and Lo Barnechea generally maintains moderate Santiago northeastern upscale corridor readings throughout most of the year.

Are air quality levels in Lo Barnechea based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere.
