Phnom Penh's air quality reflects the flat Mekong and Tonle Sap river confluence's Cambodian delta position, with vehicle traffic on surrounding expressways and the garment manufacturing, construction, and brick kiln corridor contributing local sources. The Mekong's flat alluvial plain allows reasonable monsoon season dispersal, while the dry season northeast monsoon and regional biomass burning from Cambodian and Vietnamese agricultural fires contribute seasonal PM2.5 elevation throughout the year.
