Kazanlak's air quality reflects the Kazanlak basin in the Valley of the Roses between the Balkan Mountains and the Sredna Gora range, with vehicle traffic on the E773 and surrounding rose and lavender agricultural operations and light manufacturing contributing local sources. The valley's complete topographic enclosure creates concentration under winter inversions, while the rose processing season's distinctive floral emissions represent Kazanlak's most unique local air quality signature.
