Dhaka's air quality reflects the flat Bengal delta's enclosed alluvial plain position, with vehicle traffic on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway and the extraordinary garment manufacturing, brick kiln, and vehicle density generating some of South Asia's highest sustained PM2.5. The Bay of Bengal monsoon provides wet season cleansing, while the dry winter northeast monsoon concentrates brick kiln and vehicle emissions extensively and the flat delta's minimal topographic dispersal maintains Dhaka among the world's most persistently challenged major metropolitan air quality environments.
